🚨 Blackout Scenario: When the power grid fails, smartphones, radios and lamps
are useless without power. How do you charge batteries without an outlet?
1. Solar Chargers
The most reliable method during long-term blackout:
- Foldable Solar Panel (10-20W): Enough for smartphones, power banks, small devices
- 100W Fold Panel: Charges larger power banks, tablets, small 12V batteries
- Direct to phone: USB output, no battery needed in between
- With power bank: Panel charges power bank during day, phone from power bank at night
💡 Tip: A 20W panel needs approx. 3-4 hours of sun for a full phone charge.
In cloudy weather it takes 2-3x longer.
2. Hand-Crank and Dynamo Chargers
- Hand-crank dynamo: 1 minute cranking = 3-5 minutes talk time (very exhausting!)
- Bicycle dynamo: Very effective if bike available (6V/3W)
- USB hand-crank radio: Combines radio + flashlight + USB charger
3. Car Battery as Power Source
The car battery (12V) is one of the largest available energy reserves:
- 12V-USB adapter (cigarette lighter): Direct phone charging
- Inverter (12V→230V): Charges laptops, batteries, small devices
- Important: Run engine regularly, otherwise battery drains!
- Jump cables: From one car to another (multiple cars = more energy)
⚠️ Never discharge car battery below 50%! Deep discharge permanently destroys the battery.
Run engine every 2-3 hours for 15 minutes.
